The Principles of Dog Runs
Dog runs are wonderful additions to any house and provide a number of advantages to both the dog owners and their pets. Thanks to coming in a variety of large sizes, they provide ample space for your dog to roam. You can use dog enclosure as a safe space for recall training, or as a means of providing your pet with fresh air and sunlight while you tend to other chores. Most dogs enjoy being outside, taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of everyday life – many working dogs spend the entire year outside. Having an outdoor house for your pet can be incredibly beneficial at times, such as when you’re at work or simply need your pooch out of your way for a while. A dog run provides a safe, contained environment for your dog without confining them indoors.
The key priorities of a decent dog run are security, comfort, and durability. All of our dog runs have been carefully designed to guarantee that. They are chew resistant and don’t have any gaps where limbs could get caught, hence guaranteeing exceptional safety. They provide rain and sun protection, as well as guard against unauthorised entry. When combined with a good, sturdy kennel, they can be the ideal space for your dog to relax.
Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of a sturdy dog run:
Safety
Dog runs provide a safe environment for your dog to exercise, while also giving you the peace of mind that your pet is safe and not getting into any mischief. If your dog loves to dig or simply adores getting into trouble, you are well aware of the havoc he or she can cause if left unattended. A dog run is the ideal solution to this problem, and it will keep your perfectly manicured lawn safe too. A dog run also protects your dog from being stolen and prevents the dog from tunnelling under the boundary fence.
Health and Happiness
Dog runs can help your dog live a happier life. A large run allows them to be outside and enjoy themselves, whether alone or with a companion, providing much needed physical and mental stimulation – be it from running around with toys or simply watching their environment. It’s also a great way to prevent, or work on, separation anxiety – all too common amongst the “pandemic puppies” – as the plethora of stimuli keeps your dog distracted and helps them mentally connect being alone with play time.
A little thought about but much loved advantage of having a run is the possibility of keeping your dog outside if they roll themselves in something smelly…at least until bath time!
Peace of Mind in a Working Environment
A dog run is vital for dog owners whose home is also a working setting, such as a farm. Instead of being cooped up all day, your dog can go outside and have fun without you having to worry about them getting hurt or disrupting your business. Dogs might become too excited or terrified in places with machinery or farm animals, bolting or relentlessly barking. As you can imagine, this could cause havoc and possibly endanger your dog or any employees or guests. A dog run prevents this without confining your dog inside for the entire day.
How Do I Know It Will Still Look Fine in 5 Years?
This is an excellent question. Many dog run manufacturers are situated overseas and utilise inferior, untreated wood that cracks and cannot endure the damp Irish environment. Others employ thin galvanizing, which after a few years begins to look dull, rusty, and starts flaking off. All of our runs are manufactured using the most up-to-date laser welding technology and are galvanised in accordance with ISO 1461. We truly believe in the quality of our runs. That’s why each of them comes with a 12 month warranty.
We recommend that your dog run is always secured to the ground, even if it does not have a roof.
What Size Do I Need?
We are frequently asked this question, and our response is that the best dog run is one that is as extensive as available space and budget allow. Once you have space, there are no advantages to having a smaller run for your pets. Small and medium dogs will need a minimum of 3 square metres, rising to 5+ meters for larger dogs, especially if they spend more than a couple of hours a day in their enclosure. Please keep in mind that you must consider the dog’s space to sleep, exercise, have food and water provided etc.
How Can I Keep It Clean?
We propose that you establish a cleaning practice that includes removing any faeces on a daily basis, and cleaning with a pet safe disinfectant and a bristle brush once a week. Apply a monthly dosage of top grade flea room spray to any sleeping places.
